Abstract

Pharmacy residency programs emerged in hospital settings as a way of reorganising health services, focusing on integrated practice. We present an experience report on hospital pharmacy resident training through the lens of preceptorship. The pedagogical proposal is innovative, meeting 89.5% of the defined criteria to report innovations in education guidelines. Bloom’s taxonomy was used to develop and evaluation of skills for working in pharmaceutical services for hospital admissions involving multi-professional teams, helping to ensure the safe and rational medicine utilization. While the pedagogical action exposed challenges for the development of innovative teaching methods, it also guided residents on the important role pharmacists play in hospital admission, demonstrating the contributions and benefits of their work in optimising patient pharmacotherapy.
