Abstract

This article analyzes the documentary “Flesh and Bone: Working in Meatpacking” and its relevance to the field of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS), primarily because this film becomes a subsidy for the ongoing education processes of social actors engaged in the OHS domain. To this end, it is based on the theoretical and thematic analysis of the documentary and scientific literature related. The results highlight the close relationships between productive processes and the wear and tear on workers’ health, as well as discuss the limits of corporate and governmental actions. The conclusion is that documentary analysis is relevant for permanent health education. The importance of identifying and addressing work-related hazards with workers’ participation is reinforced.
