Abstracts
The study aimed to explore the challenges and potential of Primary Health Care (PHC) in addressing situations of violence against men in different life cycles in the global scientific literature. A scoping review was carried out in January 2024 on 10 databases, which included 19 publications. The results were described by life cycle in two themes. The invisibility of violence against men and the lack of training for professionals were the main challenges. The main strengths were PHC’s ability to identify and provide comprehensive care for men in situations of violence, fostering bonds of trust and coordinating intersectoral actions. It was concluded that PHC faces barriers in dealing with violence against men, but has potential to be exploited. It is essential to strengthen professional training, research and promote intersectoral interventions to improve care.
