This article presents a care experience that occurred at the intersection of health, popular education, and arts activities developed with patients admitted to hospital for tuberculosis treatment. It focuses on activities that took place between June and December 2014 registered in a field diary and photographs. A theoretical framework based on vulnerability and human rights and the concepts of popular education was used to guide reflection. The findings reveal that patients are engaged in their care and an awareness of their place in society. It is concluded that in contexts of extreme psychosocial vulnerability, it is possible and desirable to broaden tuberculosis treatment to include health promotion, even in hospital settings.
