Abstract
Matrix support, which organizes the work of expanded family health units (NASF-AB), has care and technical-pedagogical dimensions. This study analyzed the technical-pedagogical dimension in a NASF-AB. We conducted a participatory intervention study using participant observation and reflection groups. The results of the thematic analysis showed that although professionals did not readily recognize the technical-pedagogical dimension, it was present in everyday practice. Difficulties in incorporating the technical-pedagogical dimension are related to the prioritization of individual care by the NASF-AB; demand management; participation of community health workers in meetings; management of work processes; and conceptions of teaching and learning in matrix support. Knowledge construction outside the spaces established for matrix support meetings could enhance pedagogical possibilities for expanding clinical care.
