Through the analysis of government actions during the response to the Covid-19 pandemic related to sexual and reproductive rights, this article reflects on the Brazilian government’s neglect of women’s health, especially in relation to users of the country’s unified health system, violating the principles enshrined in the constitution. We chose project-based learning (PBL) as the teaching-learning method for this module. Drawing on the relevant literature, we provide an account of this experience, reflecting on its strengths and weaknesses. The findings show that PBL enabled the development of problem-solving, communication and conflict management skills, critical thinking and professionalism.
