This study explored the implications of the experience of preventive detention drawing on the oral histories of men being prosecuted for intimate partner violence. The oral history of 11 men living in Belém, Brazil being prosecuted for intimate partner violence and who had experienced preventive detention were collected using semi-structured interviews conducted between June and July 2015. The data was organized and categorized using thematic content analysis.
