The objective of this research was to study the inclusion of the topic of violence in Brazilian policies and those of the state of Rio de Janeiro that address long-term care institutions for the elderly. A documentation analysis of public policies aimed at the elderly or related to violence was conducted starting from the 1988 Constitution. In higher education, the productivist logic is just another expression of the ubiquity of neo-liberalism, which engenders modes of subjectivation and capture in settings that should safeguard possibilities of resistance. Drawing on Foucault’s notion of ethics, this article describes the experiences of graduate students regarding what we call neoliberal productivist morality in an academic context.
